Hair Restoration Treatments
for Buffalo, Amherst, NY & Beyond
Hair loss and thinning can cause insecurity for both men and women.
While genetics plays a significant role regenerative medicine brings new hope for hair restoration. PRP, and more recently, exosomes have been used by doctors to speed wound healing and stimulate the hair follicles to promote thicker, healthier hair. When injected or applied topically, the substances we use start to rejuvenate and regenerate the dormant hair follicles. Each patient has unique concerns and should come in for a full consultation prior to beginning treatment. At Buffalo Regenerative Medicine, our team is proud to assist patients throughout Buffalo, Amherst, NY, and the surrounding areas. We welcome you to contact our office to schedule your initial consultation with a member of our team!
PRP (platelet rich plasma) is derived from your own blood and is rich in growth factors. (see section on our website for more in-depth information on PRP treatments). This substance can be injected directly into the scalp to the areas of concern. The growth factors in the PRP help to revitalize the hair follicle helping to begin the hair restoration process. This treatment generally needs to be repeated several times to obtain adequate results.
Exosomes are the newest treatment for hair restoration. We go more into depth regarding exosomes in another area of our website, but in short, exosomes are extracellular vesicles released by stem cells and how stem cells communicate.
Exosomes contain messages that actually activate stem cells. We all have dormant stem cells in our skin and exosomes can reactivate them. Because these are nano particles, they are absorbed quickly by the skin and can easily reach the hair follicles. The scalp is first treated with microneedling or with radio frequency microneedling. This allows for micro channels in the skin for easier and deeper penetration of the exosomes.
The exosomes are then applied topically and allowed to absorb. This procedure is very well tolerated with minimal discomfort. Again, several treatments are needed for optimal results. Patients do report not only increased hair growth but darker hair as well.
